Transitions in the Diocese
The Rev. Joey Clavijo will now serve as a non-parochial deacon focusing on his role as chair of the diocesan environmental commission. His last Sunday as deacon at St. George’s, New Orleans, was July 4, 2021.
The Very Rev. Craig Dalferes has been called as rector of Grace Church, St. Francisville, effective September 1, 2021. He has served as rector of St. Matthew’s, Houma, since 2004 and the dean of the Southwest Deanery since 2013. He will serve his last Sunday at St. Matthew’s on July 25, 2021. New Clergy in the Diocese
The Rev. Holly Burris was called to serve as rector of St. John’s, Thibodaux, effective July 19, 2021. She comes to our diocese from the Diocese of Mississippi where she served as priest-in-charge of the Church of the Epiphany in Tunica. Read her biography here.
The Rev. David P. Casey, O.P. has been called to be the priest-in-charge of Church of the Annunciation, New Orleans, and Mount Olivet, New Orleans, effective July 11, 2021. He previously served as chaplain missioner for campus & young adult ministry in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Read his biography here.
The Rev. Luigi Mandile was ordained to the Sacred Order of Deacons on June 16, 2021, at St. Anna’s, New Orleans. He will serve as deacon at St. Anna’s. Photographs from the service can be found here.
Clergy Deaths
The Rt. Rev. Robert Witcher died on June 14, 2021, at the age of 94. A private family service was held at St. James, Baton Rouge, on June 18. Read the pastoral announcement from the Diocese of Long Island here.
