It was the kind of reunion of old friends and family you might see at a wedding, or (more sadly), a funeral. That’s what made the first event in the Broadmoor neighborhood Saturday (Aug. 29) such a bittersweet affair. “An Interfaith Prayer Service of Remembrance, Thanksgiving, and Hope” at the Church of the Annunciation on South Claiborne Avenue (just off Napoleon Avenue) was a mix of fellowship, familiarity, sadness and hope.
The Rev. Hal Roark, a leading force in the neighborhood’s comeback after the flooding by Hurricane Katrina, even noted as much in his message.
