Dear brothers and sisters,
Thank you for your time today. It was good to have a moment to check in and update one another on our current situation. Below is a summary of our conversation. If you need anything in particular, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
The diocesan website has important information/resources listed. Nola Ready provides updates on food and water distribution, cooling stations and other relief opportunities. You can sign up to receive text alerts –text NOLAREADY to 77295.
If you or someone in your community needs access to longer term housing, please contact Canon Reid.
We are working with ERD on an emergency grant to help those most vulnerable, especially those in shelters and motels. If your congregation is interested in receiving resources, please contact Father Beazley.
It is advisable not to drive into affected areas right now. There is still debris on the roads and fuel and other essentials are scarce. If you do come back into the city to check on property, make sure that you bring your own supplies and fill up your vehicle well before arrival into the metro area.
If you are using your discretionary account for relief, please make sure that you are meeting the requirements for these funds. The diocesan discretionary fund guidelines can be found HERE.
As soon as conditions and capacity allows, we will be turning our attention to longer-term recovery efforts. In the meantime, financial gifts are most helpful.

Thank you all.
Faithfully,
The Rt. Rev. Morris K. Thompson, Jr.
