SLIDELL – Over two years of work to create a program that can provide truly homeless St. Tammany families with a place to stay, and rebuild their lives, is on the verge of beginning at over a dozen churches around the parish.
Starting with an organizational meeting in October, 2013 at Church of the King in Mandeville, Family Promise of St. Tammany was formed and is now set to launch the national program in our parish with a kickoff this Friday, April 17 at Christ Episcopal Church in Slidell, where Parish President Pat Brister will be there to lead the ceremony.
Family Promise is a national program that began 20 years ago to help homeless families who hit on hard times and need help for a short period of time to get back on their feet.
