On Friday, April 17, Christ Episcopal Church in Slidell opened the newest “Little Free Library” in St. Tammany Parish. According to LittleFreeLibrary.org, “It’s a ‘take a book, return a book’ gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories.”

Church member Claire Singer was instrumental in establishing this library.

“Christ Episcopal Church has a strong history of community outreach through literacy,” Singer said. “We offer English as a Second Language tutoring, we include books in the Easter baskets we give to children at Rainbow Childcare each year, and we’ve hosted book sales from time to time. A Little Free Library is a natural extension of our literacy outreach. We’re especially interested in providing books for children through our library.”
