NEW ORLEANS — At the St. Paul’s Senior Center where Lakeview meets Gentilly, they do enjoy bingo, but they have a special mission to help others.

We found them making lunches for the homeless. They also pack hygiene kits, school supplies and even Christmas gifts for soldiers.

“It’s so important because they are giving something back,” said Program Director Cathey Randolph. “They still have a purpose to live. A lot of them don’t drive anymore, and it beats being locked up in the house. They have something to give to the community.” […]
