The following is a list of churches offering assistance during the federal government shutdown with details on how you can help. If you have an outreach ministry to add to this list, please contact Karen Mackey at kmackey@edola.org.

St. Anna’s, New Orleans

GIFT CARDS for the Coast Guard.  St. Anna’s Church is collecting gift cards to big box stores like Walmart or Target for distribution to our wonderful Coast Guard families that are being impacted by the government shutdown. The USCG does so much for our coastal folk and river folk. Please send your cards or cash donation to St. Anna’s Church noting the “Cards for Coast Guard” collection. St. Anna’s is located at 1313 Esplanade Ave, New Orleans, LA 70116

Trinity Church, Baton Rouge

Thanks to the government shutdown Trinity Baton Rouge’s Food Pantry is experiencing a significant increase in people seeking food and dry goods.  Thanks to a referral partnership with The Ruby Slipper Cafe (located very near Trinity), which is offering free meals to government workers during the week, we are receiving a number of referrals.  We would appreciate receiving donations of canned foods, rice, beans, cereal, pasta, and other nonperishable items as well as dry goods (paper towels, toilet paper, soap, personal items, etc).  We are not able to store items that need refrigeration.  Now that WIC is closed down we also need donations of formula, baby cereal, and other baby food. Gift cards ($20 amounts) for Walmart or Albertsons are also appreciated. For more information please call 225-387-0396. Donations can be dropped off at the church office during the week between 8:30 am-3 pm and on Sunday mornings as well as the 5 pm service. Your help is greatly appreciated. Trinity Episcopal Church is located at 3552 Morning Glory Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70808.
