July 1, 2021, Feast of Pauli Murray: Ordination of Lindsey Ardrey, Lynn Hooks, and Allison Reid to the Sacred Order of Priests at St. Paul’s, New Orleans. This was a historic moment in the Diocese of Louisiana. This was the first time multiple women have been ordained at the same time when a man has not been part of the group. The service was at St. Paul’s, New Orleans where 29 years ago the Rev. Peggy Walker became the first woman to be ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of Louisiana. The service was held on the feast of Pauli Murray, a civil and woman’s rights activist and the first African-American woman to be ordained as an Episcopal priest in 1977. You can watch the service on the St. Paul’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrMtgYGzSs8
